Glenn Desmedt

Glenn Desmedt studied at the Maastricht Conservatory and perfected his skills with Luba Stuceveskaja and Nicolai Cok. At the same time, he took part in numerous workshops in the musical field. He began his career in the Netherlands at Opera Zuid, where he worked with directors such as Frank Van Laecke, Bruno Berger-Gorski and Lotte De Beer. In the operetta and musical genres, his repertoire includes Zsupan in Countess Mariza, Barinkay and Ottokar in The Gypsy Baron, John Styx in Orphée aux enfers, Thénardier in les Mis, Renfield in Dracula, and many more. In 2011, Glenn Desmedt won the Heinrich Strecker Crossover Competition in Baden. There he sang Sancho Panza (Man of La Mancha) and Alfred (Die Fledermaus) under Robert Herzl and Alexandra Liedtke respectively. In 2020 he moved to Baden permanently. As an author and librettist, he wrote the musicals Zoo of Life and Rubens, with composer Sam Gevers. He also produced the Belgian premiere of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd.
